Whitecaps 10, Silver Hawks 9: Taylor Harbin went 5-for-6 with three doubles and six RBIs in a losing effort for the hosts.

The Whitecaps came up with two runs in the bottom of the ninth for the win.

The Silver Hawks (36-22) lead the Lansing Lugnuts by 3 ½ games and the Dayton Dragons by four. Their magic qualifying number is five.

The Silver Hawks are off tonight; they travel to Great Lakes tomorrow to begin an eight-game road trip.

Obama To Appear With Running Mate Saturday: Illinois Senator Barack Obama will appear with his vice-presidential pick at a rally in Springfield, Il. Saturday. His aides say he could announce who the running mate will be any time.

Springfield was where Obama launched his presidential bid 18 months ago.

Russians Still in Republic of Georgia: Despite assurances they were pulling out, Russian troops captured 20 Republic of Georgia soldiers yesterday and seized a shipment of Humvees that were supposed to be returned to the U.S.
