Uncle Ron’s Ramblings

Things Better Left Unsaid: It’s not well-known, but the late Herve Villechaize, who played the late Ricardo Montalban’s partner Tatoo on “ Fantasy Island” made his home in Illinois--Des Plaines, Des Plaines.
Random Thoughts: Now that Notre Dame has opened the track and tennis seasons (indoors, of course), does that mean Spring is right around the corner. (Actually the Spring tennis season opens tomorrow at ND).
If you ask me who the real champion in college football is I will tell you the University of Richmond. They won it on the playing field and they had the worst record in the tournament. They beat the three-time defending tournament champion, Appalachian State, and the number one ranked team, James Madison University in the FCS playoffs.
If you ask who the national champion is in the fBS division (you’ll notice I made the “f” lower case to emphasize the BS in the fBS system of picking a champion) I would tell you the University of Utah. They had a perfect record and beat Alabama in the BcS; the Crimson Tide had a perfect record and were ranked number one at the end of the regular season. They did it convincingly, too, shutting down the Alabama offense with eight quarterback sacks.
